2026 Walking Tour - Melbourne - Icon

Join us for a practical walk through four VivaCity sensor locations in Melbourne. See how multimodal data can support decisions about station precincts, active travel, shared spaces and corridor safety, over an 800m-route around the city centre.

What you will learn:

βœ”οΈ How virtual count lines and micro-zones turn a specific transport question into useful evidence.
βœ”οΈ How different modes β€” including pedestrians, bicycles, e-bikes, e-scooters and vehicles β€” can be understood separately.
βœ”οΈ Where speed and trajectory/path data add context to counts.
βœ”οΈ How continuous, anonymised multimodal data can support planning, active travel, place management and proactive road-safety decisions.

At each stop, we will ask:
What decision is this site designed to inform? Which movements matter? What would success look like after a change?

VivaCity sensors use AI-powered edge processing to produce anonymised, aggregate transport insights; the walk focuses on movements and place performance, not personal data.

The walk is ideal for:
Smart City, Data & Insights and Transport professionals.
